My individual mental health counseling sessions for teens operate under the same guiding principles as for adults. I employ a person-centered and strength-based approach which is individualized to each person I work with. Adolescents may confront some of the same difficulties adults do, but they oftentimes respond to them in different ways than their elders. Teens also face difficulties which are unique to the challenges of growing up in a changing world that includes a transition into their own personal growth. Discovering who they are and where they fit in within a developmental structure, adolescents sometimes need help maneuvering through a process which can be confusing and overwhelming. I can help your adolescent find effective ways to examine, cope, and communicate themselves assertively.
